With all this talk of Vinyl it's about time I copied my small collection of
LPs to MD. What's the opinion on the best (and free :-)) software to
reduce the clicks, pops and general noise?
Many thanks

You can directly correlate the abuse a portable to a laptop given to a
soldier (ie. Bad). A personal laptop gets treated like eggs, also generally
a laptop has enough mass around it to give slightly more protection. A MP3
portable doesn't benefit from this. Try running to a bus, jogging, mount
As part of my job I put rugged laptops out in the AU bush and in Army
vehicles and I can tell you for a fact that a laptop HDD will NOT cope with
the type of abuse a portable would contend with. Once the heads hit the
platters it all over baby start again or if you're lucky a refomat may
recover

I was just looking through the Jaycar catalogue (Australian electronic
store) and I found a Co-ax digi to Toslink adapter for $39.95 (less than $20
USD) Part No. AA-1722 the other way around is AA1720 same price.

I've got a JB940 at home and I have yet to use the LP functionality.
I've always read that MP3 doesn't sound as good as the original, I'm no
audiophile but I like to know the music I listen to is the best reproduction
I can get on my system, so I'm not into MP3 for that reason. After years of
If you are in Oz you can go to Jaycar electronics where they have a toslink

To all R 50 owners, has anyone had any problems with the buttons not working
on the front or remote? Mine have gone west and don't want to pay mega$ to
get it fixed if there is a easy remedy.
Thanks

I absolutely love MD..but...
My deck (MDS-303) and now my R-50 are close to paperweights. The 303 has
the ubiquitous optical block problem (still waiting for the Sony recall!!)
and my R-50 has a problem with the buttons not working. I was going to
upgrade to a 640 deck but now I'm not so su
To start off, I absolutely love MDs. I now am worried because my home deck
has died (optical block) and my R50 now is playing up (buttons don't work)
so I have to look at my options on CD-R as I don't want to buy another deck
that will die on me. I am looking at the 640 deck but I'm not sure.

My beloved R-50 has decided to play up. The play button has stopped
working, you can stil use the remote to select play though. Is this a known
problem? Any hints on fixing it?
Thanks and Merry Christmas

I couldn't agree more, especially the protection aspect, my one year thinks
that MD's are the best toys and get scattered around the house. Try that
