I've listened to my MD on Northwest Airlines A319 flights with no problems.
They're just
This is from experience, and I'm almost certain it's because Aribusses are
fly-by-wire and therefore much more vulnerable to RF interference.

dig back through the list archives, about 3 months iirc. There was a guy
who posted (think he was a pilot). The whole bit went into about the
phases of the flight including durring takeoff and landing what they
call Sterile Cockpit, or something like that. It's basically the only

Is this from experience or some other reason? I have a couple of flights
this week, both by Airbusses (A320/319) and would like to listen to my
MDs or at least take the opportunity to title my tracks.
No
My guess is that while MDs and CDs don't "transmit" any signal, they
probably do output a lot of RF interference. I can't work out at which stage
this occurs though. The major problem comes from any oscillator that has
harmonics in the frequency ranges that are used by the plane's control
systems
Just wondering...why wouldn't the air crew let me listen to my Md during
flight? They said no cd's or md's, but certain other elictrical goods were
OK. That doesn't make sense as md's and cd's do not transmit any signal,
that I know of, that could interfere with the plans equip.
