ive got the MD-X5 minisystem, and the MS-702 player/recorder. the only
problem is whenever i play MDs that i made on the X5 on the 702, i get
horrible static, so loud that its unbearable, and not listen-able. i

No. There are no interoperability issues
I agree with Rat on this. Get a MD recorded on another unit, or a
pre-recoprded one and see which one is messed up.

I've got a Sharp MD-X5 and an MS-722 player/recorder. I do not notice this
problem at all going in either direction. I guess the question I have to
ask here is what type of recording were you making on the
X5? Digital? Analog? What was your source? If it was external to the
