I'm setting up 2 localhost-only wikis for development purposes and
trying out new ideas. One called 'wiki-drugfacts' and the other called
'wiki-tgmeds'. They both share the same mariadb database although
'wiki-tgmeds' does have a prefix of 'tg-' first in the database.

I've been following here [1] and also [2], and have got as far as 'Configure
MediaWiki', and navigating to http://localhost and there I'm stuck.

After a reinstall of my Debian 8 I'm having great difficulties in
getting my own mediawiki instance (just available as a local instance
and not web serving) working.
Can anyone tell me please what Debian packages I need to install that
will allow me to use mariadb with a downloaded mediawiki.tar.

Has anyone been able to get the 'statcounter' extension to work with
mediawiki and foreground please? I have it installed and the only thing
that it seems to do is to add 'Site statistics' into the sidebar. There
are no calls to its home site, nothing! I've set it up as per the
