You may need to clean the tank and replace the tank screen as well from
crud growing in there.
Also check for leaking fuel lines on the suction side of the lift pump

I have that book as well. I'll also put a plug in for the Haynes AC manual
that I purchased from Autozone. It has vehicle specific data on charge
pressures, and refrigerant and oil quantities. The two of them were
extremely helpful when I resurrected the AC systems in all three of my cars

One pump, IIRC. Most 'other modern cars' _need_ a high-pressure pump
somewhere, and putting it in the tank means the entire fuel system is
highly pressurized, resulting in less vapor
Have they come out with a new edition that deals with 134A refrigerant
systems? THe one I have from several years ago mentions it but doesn't give
any pressures, quantities, etc.

For the '79 240D (Albatross), it was just a matter of setting the
throttle to maximum and then adjusting the slider on the rod to
make it
W115 does not use vacuum on the diesel. Throttle control rod only (I
think the gasser is the same).
Change the fluid and filter -- when these sit, the shift control valve
sticks and it either wont' upshift, or like my 220D, shifts into fourth
at 25 mph, floored or not!

I fear that just because some one says they rebuilt the engine that phrase
rebuilt engine can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. If you get
receipts for the parts bought and a receipt from a *competant* shop that
installed them and reassembled the engine you might find out what
I would suspect the normal causes here -- rebuilt to Chevy standards
and NOT MB, with the result that it has blown oil since day one.
Better to have done so at once, but I would pull the head and check on
valve guide clearance and composition and cylinder wall wear. You
