Hi, Luther.
SD's don't seem to bring NEARLYYY the money that 300TDt's do, even
exceptionally well kept low mileage examples. There's a 1982 with 158K
miles on it right now with an asking price of $6K, smooth runner, lots of
new parts, everything works, uses no oil, .
I am having an auction to sell stuff from my parents' farm in KY, I am
in TX. Most of it is little odds $ ends, some antiquey kinds of
things. Two large items are a boat and a little John Deere diesel
tractor. I have no idea what the boat is worth -- 18ft Alumacraft with
130HP motor and
What kind of diesel tractor (other than just JD)? Might try
ames.craigslistfor that one -- Deere tractors in Iowa are like

Hi Rick,
Thanks! You're absolutely right! I've gotten some *very* professional
looking one. It's been years since I got hit but once upon a time I opened
an attachment from a known fellow lister - I wasn't aware of the
sophisticated email programs in use - I clicked it and nothing seemed
and did a double take. Could swear it's a rebadged Chrysler Pacifica.
Could it be?

Or vice versa -- I read some time ago that the Pacifica has some of
the extra strengthening removed - it's lighter and weaker than the
R500, though I don't think I could find the source now.

Rust isn't all that obvious but there are holes beneath the floor on
the PS plus some in the right rear and along the left rail. Would
cost me about $1500 to fix the worst of it.

I've seen 300tD's with similar mileage to yours for $5K or so. The
maintenance records would make quite a difference, and the rust wouldn't be
too much of a concern if properly repaired.

I love the photos. The array of new parts reminds me of a TV cooking show

In my reality, the new parts would be hidden somewhere under a stack of

Thanks!! I now have an excuse for a cross country drive. The difference is
at least $2K vs. the mid-Atlantic.

Replacing the delivery valve seals.
In my case, I've been busy and haven't gotten to the project but the leaks
seem to have slowed, so it's not a high priority.
Order quickly! Rusty may run out. I predict a run on flex disks.

I think you'd do pretty well w/ an eBay listing for the tractor. There are
no 655s currently listed.
