In a word, Yes. I suspect you'd probably be ok for a long trip like that -
you won't use the brakes a great deal since
Are the underbody panels available from MB? If so, I assume they;re
expensive?
I would think the panels could be fabricated without too much trouble. The
fiberglass doesnt have to be very thick and there's plenty of acoustic
material available.
I guess if there were a market for them
That was probably Steve Nervig's index.

Not a big deal, but got my attention. Seem the outside temp gauge, the

Are the underbody panels available from MB?
There's 2 - one covers the underside area of the transmission and another
covers the bottom of the engine. My '91 300D has both in place, but I
understand many were removed and not replaced then lost.
Not only do they keep the engine clean, but they help reduce noise levels
greatly.
My '78
I don't see them on my 87 300d, but Pull-a-part emailed me this week that
they got the same car in on the lot this week. I may have to go for a ride
and see if they are there.

They also keep the engine cooler by directing the airflow across the
radiator out under the car. It really does make a difference,
especially on the highway.
I'll have to pull the ones of my old car, probably need to rescue it
from the towing service soon, even if I'm not paying for storage

The thermistor that drives the gauge is behind the front bumper. If
the leads are corroded and have high resistance, it will read
incorrectly one way, shorted or grounded on the feed side it will
read the other (I think very low temp would be an open circuit). My
new 300D reads +130 C all

Dear all,
This most likely has been addressed before by this august forum, but I forgot
how often the coolant should be changed. Every 30 K? 3 years?
Where do you get it these days? Used to be NAPA for my location.
