Are the underbody panels available from MB? If so, I assume they;re expensive? I would think the panels could be fabricated without too much trouble. The fiberglass doesnt have to be very thick and there's plenty of acoustic material available. I guess if there were a market for them

There's 2 - one covers the underside area of the transmission and another covers the bottom of the engine. My '91 300D has both in place, but I understand many were removed and not replaced then lost. Not only do they keep the engine clean, but they help reduce noise levels greatly. My '78

They also keep the engine cooler by directing the airflow across the radiator out under the car. It really does make a difference, especially on the highway. I'll have to pull the ones of my old car, probably need to rescue it from the towing service soon, even if I'm not paying for storage

The thermistor that drives the gauge is behind the front bumper. If the leads are corroded and have high resistance, it will read incorrectly one way, shorted or grounded on the feed side it will read the other (I think very low temp would be an open circuit). My new 300D reads +130 C all
