My Dad is 64 and I was interested to hear when we were at deer camp him talking
fondly of nights spent smelt fishing.
When you're in an ice shack thats built well and has at least a little
insulation in it and a stove that doesn't fill it with smoke and wood dry
enough that it'll actually burn
I've searched through the service CD but thus far haven't found a test
method for vacuum transducers. These are the black units used to
control things like EGR, intake vacuum flaps, and turbo pressure.
According to info I've found these were used in 201, 124 and 126
diesels from at least 1986-1991
0-60 in 10.2 seconds? At least it can keep up with a 2.2L Dodge Omni
or Plymouth Horizon. (and outrun any 190D sold in USA) OTOH, the
Horizon never came with plastic wheel covers.

In theory, would the 5 sp be any advantage? Diesel has good torque but the 240
is no powerhouse. Would an overdrive
gear be of much value? I have not driven a manual 4 sp so I have no idea what
the situation is. Does the car feel
like a higher gear would help?

I know the 240D got Mannys to be a truely "Base" model with the advantages
of a manny being a happy additive that came with it - making the 240D much
better for the US road system by making it a bit peppier. But to have a
300D or 300D Turbo with a Manny would seem to be the best of all worlds!!

I drive a 01 Grand Cherokee with 170,000 miles on the clock & my Wife drives

Other than the reliablity issue which is clearly a disaster you're already
getting higher than the rated mileage on your Jeep and so should get higher
with the diesel I'd think.
