Actually, I think the futures bubble burst, and the economy (and
credit markets) crashed as a result of the oil price shock. Sure bit
the plastics industry pretty bad, having the billion or so pounds of

Bought some on bestbuy.com for 6 bucks. HDMI cables either work or
they don't. No difference in "quality" per my local cable company.
I like them as it reduces the spaghetti effect with cabling.

I use ordinary RCA cables and "looks fine to me"
I'm sure HDMI is somewhat better but she'd probably need to see the two
side by side to notice. Depends on how fussy she is about that sort of
thing. No women I've known are fussy about TVs and stereos, that's more
a college/young guy thing.

That is true, the cables are pretty much able to provide the same
output. I would stay away from chinese dollar stores though. I have
been quite lucky in sourcing cables from the Goodwill. $0.99 and they

While I am sure there are crappy cables out there, this is just another
marketing gimmick that they use to rip you off. Buy a cheap cable.
If you want to blow $150 on one, spend it on a name brand cable like "Monster".
FWIW, I buy cables off of eBay whenever possible. Even the really good ones
Randy, you can go with most any old HDMI cable as long as it is not a
real hunk of junk. Even the nasty chinese stuff works fine. I paid
$30 for a 15 foot to hook an up converting DVD to the LCD. Other one
is for cable box. One can also use component for good HD.

What I do in cases like that is drive even slower, then when its time to
turn, I almost come to a complete stop while turning. The half way
smart ones figure it out and normal speed resumes. Sometimes people are
so dumb they never get it.

Those "jump up" things are wonderful. My youngest spent the better part of his
second year in one - if you took him out he would throw a fit! Little booger
would fall asleep in it - it would be unusually quiet and you would look over
to see him slumped over to one side, fast asleep.

I was in Seattle one time when it snowed. My customer was on Marginal Way and
I was staying at the dumpy (at the time) Holiday Inn at Boeing Field. The
distance between the two places wasn't much, maybe a few miles on surface
streets if I recall.

In 1978, I removed from service 12 large Jimmy Diesels in the power
generation plant at Sondrestrom AB, Greenland, that had been running for 38
years. Parts had gotten hard to get. When we needed parts, we had to have
somebody in Denmark or USA make 'em. 'Sold 'em to a Finnish salvage outfit.

In 1970 or so I went to the tractor junkyard for parts and they had a
435 JD for sale with a stuck engine. I have always wished I could
have bought it. Anyone on the list know what a JD 435 is and why it
relates to this discussion of GM?
