The modulator is designed so that the shift time can be adjusted, if
yours has not been messed with it should not need adjusting. Pretty sure
if the modulator is broken it reverts to harsh, neck breaking shifts but
it's been a while since I looked up info on the 722.3/4 boxes.

Programs?
We aren't afraid of programs.

First trace and test your vac lines and fittings, all you need is your
eyes and fingers and a Mityvac to do that, cheap enough. The rubber
just gets buggered over time as a matter of course, and the fittings can
crack easy enough, or hoses just rattle loose.

Feedback seems to lean toward a transmission vacuum module or vacuum leak being
a possible cause. Can you guys point me toward a part number, price and
instructions to change. t might make sense to start there if it's not too
expensive or difficult.

I followed the Clinton machine closely going back to their Arkansas

Did you use mobil 1 ATF? Fred advised that for my 300CD which sat for
several years.. Now after 5k miles shifts are much smoother. Also replaced
vacuum modulator as old one would not adjust to give enough vacuum. YMMV

Bob,
The problem you describe could easily be a vacuum line issue rather than a
transmission one. If the vacuum modulator is acting up you can have issues with
"sloppy" shifts.
Try driving the car hard, that is, hard acceleration, and see if the shifts are
harsh or hard. If so, you probably ha
