The 'good neigbhour' quiet closing system was introduced for the 124 wagons, presumably because MB was getting feedback that 'slamming' the rear door shut at un Godly hours is a big no no. Also if someone slams the rear door shut whilst you're sitting in the car, it is not a pleasant feeling. I
