My 05ML500 (163) sometimes randomly starts screaming, the remote will
shut it off. Which reminds me I need to replace the batteries in the
fob as it is dead, which will probably require the re-pairing dance to
get it to work.

Our SDL did this once. We only had the one key, and it was inside in
the ignition, ready for us to leave cross-State. My brother helped us break
in. After that, I NEVER leave the keys in a car that is capable of
self-locking.

This has happened to me a few times with the SLs.
It's quite the surprise!
I saw a 126 downtown once that they'd just added an aftermarket
alarm to. They didn't even know it had a factory alarm system.
They'd managed to set it off, and were futilely

self-locking. I'll park the car at the house, go inside, come out later to
