Whilst replacing my speedo cable today, I managed to pull off the front plastic
faceplate with the 'Mercedes specila pulling tool' which I borrowed. No cracks
or breaks.
What type of glue would you use to replace it???

I ended up using Permatex super glue gel. Worked great. We'll see how it
holds up.

I have to move a '68 250S about 55 miles tomorrow, and my usual trailer is
unavailable. Is it OK to tow backwards with a dolly (rear wheels on dolly)?
The steering column locks.
Thanks,

I installed a new speedometer cable (GEMO) about 10 days and it worked

But what caused 2 cables to break? Can something at/in the speedo be binding
causing the cable have to exert more torque than it can take - i. e.,
restricting its free rotation?

Check both valves. My car had a half-a** job: The top valve was R-134, while
the bottom was still R-12. Go figure.
Since I am having compressor issues (hopefully just a clutch), I may flush the
system and put the R-12 valve back on. I want to use Freeze 12 instead of 134.
