Perhaps a few pictures and detailed notes as to why it is so relatively
hard to get a batt out of a CD might help us to understand, particularly

It only took me 5-10 minutes to wrestle the battery out of the wrecked

FWIW, it wasn't difficult at all the change out the battery in my '85
California 300D; only took a few minutes.

WOW, I can R&R a 123 battery in less than 10 mins. I much prefer the pull out
drop in of the 126. Remove the air cleaner. Have new rubber air cleaner
mounts handy if yours are bad.
