There's a 1996 E300D on Portland Craigslist for $11K with 134K miles on it. Better yet, there's a '95 W124 E300 diesel for the same price. IT has the same engine in a less rust prone chassis, but, of course, it's subject to the evap and biodegradable wire harness problems. At least they're fix
