Compared to a modern engine, the M117 in Frosch is a slug. Could be
transmission related. Either way, the car has had a bit of minor work since my
purchase and she is running much better. Finally got close to 15mpg highway on
my last long drive. Better than the 10mpg over the past four years

Look for a small leak in the injector ring or injector hoses. I don't
remember much of an issue with that otherwise, but a slow leak there
can let all the gasoline leak out of the ring as it boils.

miles, and in many cases a total rebuild around the 500k mark when the
rings go -- but only in California, where people actually put that
kind of mileage on a 450SL. Most other parts of the world they rust
away or don't get
The one I picked up in OK looks brand new compared to this... still haven't
figured out that vapor lock tho
