There is only one torque converter. Turn the crankshaft until the recessed hex
plug is visible through the bottom window and have at it. As long as you
remember to remove your socket wrench from the bottom crank bolt before
starting the vehicle you will be fine.

It's not that difficult.
You just need to remove the cover plate and bar the engine over until the hex
plug lines up with the opening.
You're only getting about half the fluid out if you don't drain the converter.

More to the point, before you install new AC parts, get a filter
installed in the suction line. That way you won't get crud from the
wiped out compressor in the new one and blow it.
Do not buy a Four Seasons rebuiltd either -- they often have

There seems to be a good bit of vacuum being pulled on the shutoff valve
such that after the car is off if I pull the vacuum line to the valve
you can hear it lose the vacuum and see the manual stop arm come back up
a bit. Maybe this is normal and I'm chasing ghosts? Any suggestions on

It could well have had summer fuel. But I don't think it was all that cold
when I was attempting the start. It's in the garage so it's never that cold
in there.
I should definitely change the filters or at a minimum get a good look at
them.

This is a real long shot, but I had the exact same thing happen to me.
Turned out that I had reversed the vacuum lines ... forget where but it was
up under the dash and it had something to do with the shutoff mechanism. Oh
yea, I remember, at the key.
