And the passenger side and the boot (or trunk as you say), basically there
are two types of actuators, master and slave. Three of each.

In the cars with vacuum/pressure pumps (W126, W124,
etc.) the function of pump and actuators is a little
different.
The pump, which is located under the right rear seat
in the 124, and under the spare tire in the 126, is
operated by an electrical switch on the driver's door
lock. When you lock or

Found the catalog page. No idea which one fits best, but any of them should
be better than a screwdriver.

I use a Snap-On tool that resembles a forked screwdriver with a bent shaft.
Couldn't find it in the online catalog, but this may be better:

If you've ever seen one of the plastic pop-connectors you'll see
what you pry against. It's the shoulder of the connector itself.
Think 'nail head'. You pry out against the shank of the connector,
not the other way.

Shoe Goo, though slightly flexible, is too rigid for this application.

That is contrary to my experience. Initially the tears are small, and
can close up spontaneously depending on their mood. But things get
progressively worse rather quickly.

Usually if a diaphram is torn then it won't hold any sort of vaccum due to
the size of the leak.

Yes, Dan. The locks on my '83 300SD have been inoperative since I've owned
the car. The pump goes until it times out (30 seconds IIRC), but nothing
happens other than the fuel door locking (found this out when attempting to
fuel up and had to open it manually). Luckily enough, I did it quickly

You don't need to tear the doors open unless you find
a bad actuator in one.
The vacuum locking system only appears to be magic;

The _usual_ failure is torn diaphragms rather than failed rubber
connectors, but both are possible.

In the trunk. Lines are accessible at the fuel flap lock. Test
it, and the trunk actuator. (The latter is what I have found is
the most likely to break first.)

OK, all of a sudden the central locking on my 300D is not working
correctly. I know only enough to know this must mean a vacuum leak
somewhere.
Engine shuts off fine, and all doors lock if I lock the car right away
after stopping. Unlocking is another story, if even 10 minutes pass
the doors do
