OK, I think I might have talked myself out of the Prius, and like the 1996
dealer maintained S420 [127k miles]. Question for the group: IS an S500 an
$ problem to keep on the road? I just saw a 2001 with navigation and lower
miles [122K], reports one accident, but described as fully recovered.

How likely is this to be a money pit just to keep it going properly?
Generally speaking, you sell a car on eBay because you know that anybody who
looked at it in person wouldn't want to buy it.
Then you've got the usual Florida used
Oh, btw: It's a 'one owner' car, but it was titled in CA in 2001 and FL in 2002.
(maybe the one owner moved across the country). It was then titled in FL in
2006 and FL in 2010. I guess Florida vehicle titles expire every four years,
because we know it's a one owner car, right?

As a Floridian who has registered plenty of cars here over the years, I can
assure you that Florida titles, like those in other states, do not expire.
Someone who tells you otherwise should be avoided, especially if it involves
the purchase of a car.

Tires are pretty pricey. My buddy has a '03 S430, a brake job was like
$1k at the dealer 3 yr ago. Those are 2 data points I have.

Registered in FL? Are you SURE it has only the stated miles?

Bill, you're comparing apples and oranges here. The W140 stopped
production end of 99. Only the S500 and S600 had the SLS type rear

suspension as standard equipment across the entire line. Big problems

The events in question, if the title remained in the same owner's name, were
probably address changes, I would guess.

Before Roger beats me to it, the W202 and 203 are Common class models.
You may be thinking of the 210 and 211 Executive class.
BTW there is an saying along the lines of: an older Showoff class might
be cheaper to buy but is not cheaper to maintain.
