The Saga continues.
DBAG no longer makes the ignition lock, just the tumbler and key. W116 and
W107 are S.O.L. if you need one from the factory. Chinese now manu-fake a
replacement that can be sourced for under $200, but not from the dealer.
I ordered the tumbler and coded key at the dealer

Retards are involved with the EPC, Tom called his tuetonic mentors and they
told him that the NLA only applied to later editions, since the early cars...
116, 115, 114 used the same tumblers. That would be a total screw you over to
not allow people to use their cars.

107's, with their near-20-year run, exhibit quite a
variation over the years. ACC, engines, keys, etc.
Our 1983 and 1986 SL's used different keys, for example.
1986 was side-cut, the 1983 was old-school edge-cut.

I've had a locksmith successfully rekey a 107 door tumbler, so I don't see
why not.
