But even if the glow plug relay is messed up the engine should still turn
over correct? I'm not getting anything when I turn the key over except the
click in the glow plug relay.

I forgot that your 80 has the series GPs. If one goes out, they all
go out. Turn the switch to glow, and me
I checked all the glow plugs and they are all .3 ohms.

Okay here's an update. The clicking is coming from the glow plug relay. I
have juice on Hotwire going to it I have Juice across the fuse and now I'm
going to check individual pins I suppose.

The later W123s with parallel glow plugs have the relay on th
If you got the starter wire on the wrong terminal of the new switch,
chances are the wire to power the glow relay (and the light) is also
on the wrong terminal.
I'd guess your 80 is the same as mine. Mine has the old style ($350)
glow relay behind the left headlight, mounted on the inner fend
