The efficiency of ionization air purifiers is very low. That is to say that only a small percentage of particulates are trapped in a single pass. Mechanical filtration using HEPA filters is very efficient. They use more electricity and replacing the filters is expensive. I use both at home in the

Depends on if it is an ionizing one or just a HEPA. Both provide some treatment of air, but not in a really large area. HEPA will suck up particulate around the unit and within the reach of its suction. Ionizing units put out ozone and sanitizes the environment around it. Not sure it will
