I had a woodstove some years ago, it was getting a bit of surface rust so I took some steel wool and wire brush to it, that did pretty well. Then I put some "stove black" on it, which was sorta like shoe polish or paste wax kind of stuff. It looked nice for the summer. Then the first time I

Paint will burn off and smoke also.. Stove black has been used for decades to "shine up stoves". It just has to have a seasoning fire to finish the process.. Likely you built a large fire and burned it off instead of "setting it". On Mon, Nov 5, 2012 at 10:01 AM, Rich Thomas < richthomas79td...@co

A couple of guys can move a 200# stove. Tilt and slip a wheeled platform under and roll away. Now, that maybe assumes you do not have any stairs to contend with but it might still be better than trying to clean and paint it indoors. Our stove at the lake needs a bit of freshening up but does not
