Glad they were safe, a good Galileo thermometer is one of the best pieces
of functional art you can have. A Nantucket weather vane is on par in terms
of function and form as well.
Also glad everyone else is OK (pun not intended...)

It is the strangest experience Kaleb, my childhood memories were
refreshed as we went to Christchurch, New Zealand to visit family
friends in April this year.
My journey home was bitter sweet,
damage? Need to check foundation and chimneys -
any brick/concrete/block structure can come apart -
Take care -

Hey Kaleb -
We had a 5.8 about 6 weeks ago in central Va. - 1st (and last I hope) time I
ever felt

I have to believe it's due to your inner ear detecting movement while
your eyes don't see it.
Same thing happens to pilots in night/clouds/fog I believe. You have to learn
to believe your instruments, not what you are feeling

Same here at Kittyhawk (33OK) -- rocked mostly laterally I think, lots of
rumbling and house creaking. No damage - even the 24 Galileo thermometers
on the mantle stayed in place.
