This might be a good use for those low temperature solder splice and heat
shrink all in one. I used those on the ABS connector on my Jetta and it seems
to he holding so far.

Hunting online now for small quantity striped wire in various colors.

I want to replace the corroded spade connectors on the other end of the wire
also. Seems just as easy to pull a new foot or so of wire through the firewall
and only have one solder joint?

I tackled the inop dimmer switch first. Removed the dimmer relay and opened it
up. It's sort of a clever mechanism, a single momentary 12V input toggles it
from high to low or low to high beam. It's a single solenoid, with a
Hm. Was just looking at the wiring diagram again. My high/low switch isn't
working and was going to deal with that later. I had assumed the low beams were
on (the high-beam indicator on the dash was dark). But checking which wires
were hot, it's the high beams. G. So I was trying to aim the

correct. Set way high when I got it, and I have to pull the bumper cover this

room, pulled the bulb and then can't ge it back in place)
Somewhat OT but general enough, project for tonight was aiming headlights on
the Ghia. I had ordered new Koito lights from Dan Stern as the aftermarket
headlights installed by a prior owner were garbage.
I followed the extremely detailed aiming instructions, measuring, setting up

I set the cut line so that if I were 2 car lengths in front of my car in
the opposite lane, I wouldn't be blinded.
The high beams have no cut at all, and truly will blind anyone in front if
