Rich Thomas mentioned the possibility of an air bubble. You could
eliminate that by stopping the car on a steep hill (front end up the hill

You should mix your coolant 1:1 with water (dilute it to 50%

Some cheap anti freeze stuff will eat your aluminum, don't skimp on coolant.

While we are on the subject of antifreeze what's the differnece
between the
MBZ antifreeze and the green stuff?
How long your radiator lasts.

The green stuff doesn't have sufficient anti-corrosive power to prevent
corrosion of the head and radiator (and heater core, too). Long term
use will result in clogged or leaking

I wonder if SA standards require it to be green, like
Glycol is colorless. The color of the coolant is dye, and the long life and
MB types for high aluminum content engines are dyed yellow, red, or orange to
make them visually different than the standard green coolant, which does not

Really?
They last that long?

The last MB coolant I bought was pretty much colorless, IIRC. A
couple of years ago. I use Zerex now, mainly because it's easy to get
locally.

Don't confuse people, if it is good enough to drink it is good enough to go
in the engine.

If your light is coming on but the level is OK, the sensor is bad. The
coolant should be mixed 50/50 with water. That would cause it to run
warmer. Also, if you have your AC on and your temp gets up a little but
the aux fan does not kick on, that could be your problem too. Temp

Coolant should be less than 75% glycol.
Did you purge all the air out when you filled it? The procedure I use
that works best is to squeeze the upper radiator hose flat, then crimp
the overflow line at the top of the radiator to the coolant tank shut
and release the upper radiator hose.
1) did I screw up the ratio in MB coolant and water?
Yes. Antifreeze is nowhere near as good at removing heat
as is water. Pure water has, however, its own problems!
The 50/50 mix is optimum, deviation either way buys various
problems.
