Keeping a Benz out of the salt is never a bad thing, but I'd check to make sure you have good pulleys and that you are not missing a spacer under the one on the alternator or something -- verify that the belt runs exactly true. Might pull the swivel bolt and make sure it's not badly worn, t

Your alternator is going bad -- my old 22D did that, and when I took it in to get it fixed (it eventually stopped charging well) all I got back was the case. Bearings were shot and the rotor was eating the stator, caused huge amounts of drag and therefore wearing the belt out. Peter _
