The default for vcd/svcd presets is equivalent to -S 700 -B 230 Thanks for the info. I've been wondering what the -4/5 default for mpeg2enc -B is. Some old post on the list indicated that it was 224 but it is 230 for mplex overhead, right? And the -f 4/5 default for mpeg2enc -S is 730, right?

mpeg2enc always introduces breaks for SVCD, you can only change the size to a very large value. So does mpeg2enc -S 650 insert break points to _both_ 650 and 730 MB points? Anyway, the only situation where one would like to use a lower setting than 730 would be if s/he wanted to burn the MPEG

Hallo hi there i try to mplex a video and audio file to two files fit on a 650 mb. so i use this command : mplex -f 4 -V -s 2324 -p 1 -S 630 -o /windows/D/video %d .mpg /windows/D/island.m2v /windows/D/island.mp2 I guess you used for encoding something like that: mpeg2enc -f 4 .
