Often I find titles listed on IMDB are usually off by
a year or so for some reason.
I may have a poster dated 1948 but IMDB will list it
as 1947, etc.
Beats me?

IMDB says for THE PARADINE CASE that itPremiered December 31, 1947, followed by a New York run starting January 8, 1948.
Yes, IMDB cannot be counted 100% (it is pretty darn good though) but checking the Release Dates section of these types of films will usually reveal a year-end release, with the

USA issue posters w/NSS serial numbers don't always match up with recorded
release dates.
The top examples (besides The Best Years of Our Lives) are The Graduate
(68/26) and It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (64/1).
Oscar has a big hand in some of these mis-matches, w/pressure to qualify
before Dec.
2 out of 5 of the nominees for best picture this year didn't go wide until 2005, that is true, but by all accounts those two were Sideways and Million Dollar Baby, not Million Dollar Baby and The Aviator.
Aviator actually went wide on Christmas Day to roughly 1,800 theaters, it has in the next
Don't forget, NSS numbers have nothing to do with when the film was
released. They're internal codes for when the film's posters were printed.
So, if they printed the posters 6 months in advance or 3 days before
release, the numbers could be misleading...
Good day,
Bob
