Being a sci-fi horror fan, I am going to see King Kong on Monday. BUT i know from the previews, it will not come close to the original. I admire Jackson's enthusiasm life long obsession with the movie, but the original will never be duplicated and WATTS her name is no Fay Wray. Watch for the

This is the one I'm familiar with that is 28"x 42"
Doc,
You're right in many ways -- and I'll think you'll see that
Jackson realized he could not -- and should not -- try to "duplicate" the
original, but rather that he should give it his own interpretation (while still
holding true to the plot and characterbasics, as if the original

David,
I believe what you have there is one of the very first
video-release movie posters. DEEP THROAT was one of thefirst films ever to
be released on the then-new format of video tape. It would have beenin
1977 or 1978 -- so the poster looking almost 30 years old
Haven't seen the new Kong but want to.
Loved the Cooper documentary that Brownlow did that aired just before I
watched the old Kong again on Turner.
Don't miss it - It gave new understanding to the Denham character which
was Cooper's alter ego.
I must say the old Kong was great-

JR et al:
I saw King Kong a week or so ago at a screening and I had
a terrific time. Is it the original '33 King Kong? No. Is it
worse? No. Is it better? No. It's different. And it's the

Also note I think an early Video poster for this title would be a great
collectable.
Remember many people were exposed (!) to Deep Throat via Video, and early
video posters on good titles are

David,
I agree it's interesting about the hands... that's why I think
it was produced by the original owners/distributors (such films weren't made by
"studios" as such), as they had access to the original artwork/photography when
they made this smaller poster. But

We have an x-rated Art Cinema theatre in Hartford, CT. It is still running today. If you go to http://www.cinematour.com/tour.php?db=usid=452 , you will see that they show their films on video. So, maybe the San Diego theatre was using a video poster.JR [EMAIL PROTECTED]

David,
Yeah. That one looks like it was specially printed for the
premiere, before the regular one-sheet was even produced. Extremely rare, I'd
say. It maybe the only one left in existence.
What I meant was, since they obviously did produce a
standard-size one

Don't forget, Deep Throat made almost a billion dollars (on a budget in the
5 figures). It played coast to coast - in many, MANY, more theatres than
the producers had ever dreamed Don't forget that. If you rank
all movies according to box office, Deep Throat would be
