As a big-time Rita nut - another mis-understood and oft-over-looked tidbit
about that shiny dress - is that at least one was dark emerald green in color -
and not black - with greater reflective properties for black-and-white
film-stock. Color publicity photos distributed in '46 show the dress
Nice card from the 1951 sci-fi classic.
You can buy this lobby card from me now for a measly $80 or wait a week and bid
on the entire set in the Heritage auction, valued at $3,000-$6,000 and
currently with a bid of $1,500.

Because of the kind of dress that it was, Rita literally had to be taped
into it every day before shooting started. It was that tight. It is a
virtual certainty that it fell apart and was not saved.
