I'm just guessing here... but perhaps it means "short run"?
i.e., maybe "short stop" was printed on the back of a regular one-sheet
when the film was released f
e for a 1, 2 or 3 day run? Maybe just
for midnight showings on Friday and Saturday nights? Something like that.
