Paula, Don't know if you are up for a visit all the way down to North Carolina but we have a middle school model you could visit. We have actually been working on this for 3 years now and searching for another middle school to visit ourselves. It is so rewarding to SEE something in practice.

I agree that good professional development is a positive thing and can be more of a learning experience than sharing with colleagues on a surface level. I also think that there should be more discussion time in schools for teachers to collaborate on ideas. They are not mutually exclusive.
