The best text I've found is My Brother Dan's Delicious. The plot is basically
a variation of the Three Billy Goats where the young boy tries to convince the
monster (unseen and imagined) that his brother Dan is a much better choice for
being chosen by the monster. In the end, well...check it

Just been reading Dorn and Soffos' Reading for Deep
Comprehension and it seems relevant to this
conversation about retelling. They make the point
