tests. I want it to be more than just matching definitions and was wondering
what other teachers use as a vocabulary assessment.

I don't know whether or not to call myself a first year teacher. But I
really feel like one. I taught two years as a Spec. Ed. teacher in a full
inclusion school. I have a masters in Literacy. Last year, I was a literacy

I'm teaching a 7th grade advanced literate class. We are going to be
reading *The House of the Scorpion*. I need some help thinking about the
final project for the book. I'm thinking holding a debate although I've
never facilitated one before and I'm unsure how to go about
We use it at the middle school level. I find it's not especially useful for
this age group/reading development. I feel where most of our kids struggle
is with critical thinking - something that the maze and fluency piece don't
measure. I feel that some of our kids who are identifie
we use aimsweb too. we're not very happy with the it but it is "data". At
the middle school level, it doesn't seem very useful especially in our
population.
