I'd like to remind everyone that the Mosaic archives are searchable:

As one of the other reviewers, I want to second Elisa's comments. 40 years
ago I started using comics to teach students how to write book reports and
it segued into using the images as a aid to comprehension. How I wish I had
this book back then. It is so user friendly, so easy to read, and well
And NCTE has a new book on teaching graphica. Can´t remember the title right
now but Thompson´s book has whetted my appetite for more.

I am so sorry to ask for this again, I must have deleted the conversations
on teaching with comics. I know there were lots of ideas, websites, books,
etc. mentioned, can you resubmit whatever you had mentioned earlier about
using comics in the classroom, I am needing some ideas.

This link shows my third graders and the article in the local paper about
our fun with comic books in the Maryland Comic Book initiative last year.
Using
comics got us a LOT of attention.

Jennifer,
I LOVED your idea of using comics in the classroom. I am always searching
for new projects that I can write a grant for, and implement the project in
my classroom. I also teach 3rd grade. I would love to see your unit that
was written for this project. I didn't see it on the websites
I can't give out the lesson plans because I don't own them...I wrote them
for this initiative and was paid for them but you can see samples on the
weblink
I gave. You will want to go to Diamond Comics Bookshelf. I am not sure if
the units are for sale yet, but here is a contact
it on the websites you listed.
Would you mind sharing the uint? I would like to see what all ideas you had
on this.
