Please help me to understand persuasive texts and
persuasive writing. I love the book "I Wanna Iguana"
but it doesn't really seem to be a persuasive text as
much as a bargaining book format as I see it. I
thought that persuasive text should have reasons for
and against something. I see this book

I will be starting the "Writing for Change" unit from *Second Grade
Writers*(Parsons) in a couple of weeks. I'm in need of some persuasive
texts to
share w/ my 2nd graders. Here's what was in the list in the book, all of

Hi,
I have a few thoughts here. One is that you can get
the 6 pack of "Should There Be Zoos?" directly from
Mondo for $39.00, and if you get other teachers who
would like a copy to split it, it could be quite
cheap. It is a fabulous piece.
Second, I agree with you about the "bargaining"
format

Never heard of the unit you are teaching, but I LOVE the book EARRINGS, I
think it is by Judith Viorst..? It is about a little girl trying to
persuade her parents to let her get earrings. My 3rd graders love the book!

I've used Should there be zoos? by Tony Stead The kid love it. They can
write passionately about one side or the other.
