Led a field trip at the Wilkie Unit of the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife
Refuge this afternoon. There were over 100 Tundra Swans on Fisher Lake and by
sunset over 500 Ducks had settled in on Fisher lake for the night. A Northern

The owl was not in the box this morning. There is still just one pellet in the
box.
Yesterday the owl stayed down in the box until 4:30 pm when it moved up to the
entry hole. It then flew away at dusk.

Around noon today there was a pair of Eurasian Collared-Doves sitting
in a tree at the intersection of Third and Cedar St. in the town of
Nicollet. This pair has been around since August, and this location
seems to be the most reliable for ECDs in the county. A couple blocks

I spent a delightful morning yesterday (11/21) up near the Highway 2 and
Highway 15/16 intersection North of Two Harbors.
Highlights included three hawk owls, and three separate sightings of individual
spruce grouse.
The grouse were seen on the South and North ends of the Stony River Forest
This morning I watched the gulls at Canal Park, scoping out the
beautiful gulls through the light fog. Here's my e-bird list from this
morning. Sarah Glesner, Karl Bardon and Peder Svingen met up with me
at Canal Park.

Hi Everyone,
At around 12:45 pm today (11/22), I spotted a male Barrow's Goldeneye among
a small group of Common Goldeneyes on Lake Superior off 21st Ave. E, in
Duluth. This is most likely the same individual spotted on 11/17 by Peder
Svingen. The birds were fairly close to shore and best viewed
And later in the day(about 13:40) just before leaving town in that same spot
I saw the Goldeneye(both species), a female Ring-necked Duck, a Black
Scoter, and a White-winged Scoter..
I'm currently looking for my next career..
