Jim and Mark's solitaire was still present this morning, calling and feeding up
the hill in the southwest corner of the cemetery. Also present was a Purple
Finch.

Hello all -
I am headed to the Duluth area later this afternoon.
I was just wondering if there have been any N. Saw-whet sightings from the
Twin Cities to Duluth.
If so you can email me direct.
Thanks.

My wife and I enjoyed an avalanche of American Robins in the yard today.
They were flipping leaves right and left and doing some bathing. I'm
estimating at least 2 dozen passed through. Mixed in with the AMROs was
a lone Brewer's Blackbird which gives us our 103 backyard bird.

Hi -
I live 5 minutes from MSP and have regularly been touring Cargo Road in hopes
of spotting a Snowy Owl. My persistence (obsession) finally paid off today.
Snowy Owl spotted just south of the second tunnel entrance and just west of
Cargo Road. First sitting on the taxiway adjacent to the
I found a single Townsend's Solitaire this afternoon at the Ann Lake location
in Sherburne Co described by Pastor Al in an earlier post (11/29). The bird was
approximately 1/4 mile south of the parking lot, alternating between feeding in
the cedars and perching atop the deciduous trees.

On my way home today stopped to look at a hawk perched on a street light at
I-94 East and Dupont Ave N.
It was either a juvenile Broad-Winged Hawk or a Ferruginous Hawk. And unless
it somehow learns English and screams I'm a Ferruginous Hawk!, while wearing
a placard indicating so, there is
Thanks all. Didn't stop to think about the time of year. Going to go with red
tailed hawk. Was thrown off by the totally white chest.

Thanks all. Am rather embarrassed that I didn't stop to consider the time of
year. That and I could not find a single image of totally white breasted red
tail.
Ill think harder next time.

Hi everyone,
After participating in the Red Wing CBC today, we left Lake City and decided
to head west through our section on a road we weren't able to cover earlier and
we were rewarded with what is probably a juvenile male Snowy Owl. It was
located along the south side of Wabasha CR 15
Several great views of a northern shrike this afternoon at several different
locations on the boardwalk at Harriet Alexander Nature Center in Roseville.
It also has been frequenting the feeder at the nature center there, the
volunteer there mentioned.

The adult Glaucous-winged Gull was seen at Canal Park, Duluth, in the late
afternoon yesterday (12/29) between 2:40 and 2:57 PM and all afternoon
