I have been watching a Yellow Headed Blackbird for the last half hour. I am
on Park Point in Duluth and have not seen one in this area before. How
common are they in the northern part of Minnesota?

This would definitely be the farthest north that I have ever heard or seen this
species. We are on Big Rice Lake in the Superior National Forest and the bird,
first heard calling & then seen, appeared to be an Immature having its orangey
red hood incomplete from the crown of the head forward.
Last weekend at my home in Mendota Heights a broad-winged hawk hunted from a
fence post at one end of my garden as I ran a rototiller to prepare for
planting. He/she was oblivious to my presence eventually permitting me to
capture several nice images. Sunday afternoon she perched in an oak over
