about 200. Very few ducks in number but a few of each of these species,

Birding Duluth area today with Jeff Stephenson and Jim Peterson. Most
notable were 21 Golden Plovers in the Park Point ball fields this afternoon
and excellent looks at juvenile plumed Red-thoated Loon from airfield acess.

I went outside to try to get a possible picture, but saw it fly off. I hung
around to see if it might return and a *Black-throated Blue warbler* came
to the pond and entertained me. I was unable to relocate the Connecticut.

roosting on the small satellite dish on the side of the house number

perfect if I would have only brought my camera. It swam into the reeds on
the south side and was visible as it foraged. The rains soon returned and I

Yesterday 11/25, Jeff Stephenson and I waited from about 10 am until about
2 pm before the Golden-crowned Sparrow arrived at the feeders off 44th Av.
We were joined in our vigil by Dick Miller who only had to wait from 11 am
until 2. During the time frame the birding was very slow save a few
Jim Peterson called about 2 pm. He found the eiders near shore (50-75 ft)
near Beacon Point Resort off the end of 21st Av E. FYI in case anyone else
is still looking for them.

unable to relocate those birds.
Earlier we had been to Hok-si-la near Lake City and seen 20 species of
warblers. We ended up at McCarthy Lake with Grasshopper and Lark Sparrow.

Had my first White-throated sparrows serenading in the morning rain today.
Worms were out of the ground also which I take as a sign the frost is
finally out. Also FOY Chipping Sparrow at the feeder.

Just saw my FOY Swamp Sparrow around the garden pond. Earlier, before the
heavy morning rains, we saw 2 Winter Wrens, 3 Hermit Thrushes and 5 or 6
Ruby Crowned Kinglets and 1 Brown Creeper in the Izaak Walton wetlands west
of Rochester.

My son and I found 2 snowy's between 8:30 and 9 this morning. One was on an
irrigation device west of Goodwill Av between 170th and 180th street. The
other was in a field east of St Augustine cemetery on 170th just west of

Jeff Stephenson and I spent part of a day in Faribault county today.
Notable was seven golden-plovers at the sewage ponds west of Wells. 2 were
on the ponds seen from 560th Av south of 180 st; 5 more seen from 560th Av
north of 180 st. There may have been more as they were on the down slope
from
3 males in cattails on the west side of 86, south of I90, north of Sangl
WMA near Jackson. Nice comparison with other Common Grackles.

Kellogg late afternoon. Most notable was 7 Rough-legged Hawks, 5 of which
were dark phase. Two have been seen together for several days east of Roch.

This morning I took a walk from the parking area along the creek that flows
out of the east side of the Kalmar reservoir. One Lincoln sparrow a few
Song Sparrows, 20-30 swamp sparrows. A Merlin flew by and took a pass at a
flock of Goldfinches. Then up pops a single Nelson's Sparrow offering me
About noon today Jim Peterson and I relocated the RECR reported by Ron per
Chuck. They were further north of the main entrance to Hormel Nature
Center; at the entrance of a cabled maintanence road, part of the park
grounds, located on the north edge of the grounds. There were about 6 birds
in the
Searched for Lark Bunting this afternoon form 2-3 pm that John had
reported in Jackson County . No luck.

The Spotted Towhee was seen today in Austin CBC location at 9 a.m. Also Jim
Peterson found a very nice Barrow's Goldeneye among a flock of a couple
hundred Common Goldeneye on the Mississippi at the hwy 61 pullover north of
Reads Landing.
