I found 3 Buff-breasted Sandpipers at the WMA just north of Nicollet on Hwy 111
this morning about 11:30. The second pond is now dry, but the ground is still
wet making for good habitat for BBSA and a handful of other shorebirds.

Hi everyone,
John Hockema and I birded today and found 4 Buff-breasted Sandpipers at
the sod farms on the northwest corner of where Hwy. 60 (Kenyon Blvd.) and
Ibson Ave. meet. This is the same field where we found some last year. The
birds were foraging in the strip of exposed earth viewed
This afternoon Bob Williams and I found two Buff-breasted Sandpipers
at the sod farm in southeastern Blue Earth County along CR 21 just
west of CR 14. There is extensive sod on both sides of the road; the
birds were on the north side. This farm is about 5 miles east of
Mapleton.
Also, the
I was birding in Chisago County part of the day today and was able to locate
90 to 100 Buff-breasted Sandpipers on the sod farms NE of North Branch.
They were near the north end of Jeffery Ave about 2 miles north of Hwy 95
(north of 400th St). Jeffery Ave is about 3 miles east of North Branch.
8/25/07, 4-5:30PM, Got off work today and went down to Park Point. While
driving past the soccer/ball field I noticed a small group of the wind birds
fly out from the field over the lake then come back to the field and land. I
approached the birds and counted 10 buff breasted sandpipers.
About 8:20 PM this evening I observed 3 Buff-breasted sandpipers at the
Purgatory creek wetlands in Eden Prairie. They were seen from the footbridge
and were on the east side of the wetlands. As Doug Keiser reported, there are
now extensive mudflats present and there is alot of habitat to

This morning, between 9:00 and 11:30, fifty-five Buff-breasted
Sandpipers were on the Jirik Sod Farms in Dakota County. This is
bordered on the north by Cnty 66 and on the east by Blaine Avenue.

Shorebird surveys in Big Stone and Lac Qui Parle counties Friday and
Saturday (27-28 July) recorded a total of 4,253 individuals of 19
species. HIghlights on Saturday included a Ruff at the Ruby Red

At about 4PM this afternoon I flound 3 Buff-breasted Sandpipers at Lake Shetek
State Park. After you enter the park look for the side road that takes you out
to the group camps. Just before you get to the end of the road there is a

I scanned the lake for about an hour yesterday afternoon at the
boardwalk near the Sky Harbor Airport at Park Point. I didn't see
any jaegers, but I did see two Buff-breasted Sandpipers with a flock
of about 40 Sanderlings.

At 8:30 this morning I saw four Buff-breasted Sandpipers mixed in with a
large flock of Killdeer at a sod farm south west of
Yesterday (8/31) saw hundreds of Ring-bills and Franklins on Howard Lake in
Wright County feeding on the surface. Also at
least 50 C. Nighthawks at Waverly.
Today (9/1) shorebirds in Dakota County.
