Hi,Earlier this afternoon I found 8 White-winged Crossbills at the
Catholic/Lutheran cemetery just east of Lucan on 250th Street. I lost sight of
them when they flew to the farm grove on the north side of 250th where there
were some more conifers.Brian Smith Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy

Earlier this morning I enjoyed seeing and hearing a flock of 16
White-winged Crossbills at Bde Maka Ska (Lake Calhoun) in Minneapolis
Hennepin Co. I observed the WWCR flock from the parking lot of Thomas
Beach feasting on the abundant cone crops. I was happy to see these
beautiful birds migrate
We have glimpsed a similar flock several times in Prospect Park (just across
the city limit in Minneapolis) Susan

few occasions over the last month. We live in St. Paul, Mac-Grovelamd
neighborhood
First seen on Jan. 15-16, then again this past week, on Jan. 27. The
earlier viewing I would say ~10 + birds, second viewing maybe a bit
To add to recent White-winged Crossbill sightings in the Twin Cities, today I
observed flocks of 6 and 15 at Rebecca Lake Park Reserve and Crow-Hassan Park
Reserve, respectively. Both observations were of flyover groups, and I never
saw neither flock land. I also had five other finch species

I saw 3 white-winged crossbills at Glendalough State Park at about 9 this
morning. One was a bright pink-red male with bold black and white wings. Not
the crossbill species I was expecting.

Thanks to Justin Watts, for posting the continued presence of these birds.
We found them midway along the East border of the pine stand. The spot was
most easily accessed by walking the Blue Hill Trail to the pine stand, then
turning right (northward) at the pair of blue "hiking trail" signs. They
Today Annabelle Watts and I relocated a flock of White-Winged Crossbills in

Hi,
I took advantage of the break in the snow to take a walk through Oak Hill
Cemetery in south Minneapolis, where I found a small flock of 6 White-winged
Crossbills (including two bright males) near the rear of the cemetery.
Anyone searching for these birds might want to also check the spruces
I have a group of around 6 White Winged Crossbills stripping cones off of a

I came upon a surprise while walking the dog today. About five crossbills
were on the snow bank and let me get a good look. Then a whole flock flew
out of a nearby tree and they all went off to who knows were.
I guess I should always have my binoculars on walks. I was assuming they

I don't know how dependable they will continue to be, but every day this
week white-winged crossbills have been feeding on white spruce cones between
Pattison Street and the Ely School at the intersection of East Pattison

Although they are difficult to notice unless flying or calling or perched in
the open, I have seen white-winged crossbills regularly in Ely this winter.
There are many large white spruce in town with lots of cones like the ones

I just observed a flock of about 20 white winged crossbills in a spruce tree

to locate them with the binoculars. I hope they stay around for the
I was working in a white spruce stand west of the Sawbill Trail in Cook

Hey birders!
At 9:30am this morning I had a flock of White-winged Crossbills on the Bethany
Lutheran College campus. They were feeding in the large White Spruces south of
the chapel. There were also plenty of Common Redpolls and Pine Siskins
flitting around too.
Happy birding!

I had several at my home in Vadnais Heights this morning, feeding on pine
cones. I had seen them last week as well.
I would like to have some ideas on listing software. I have a yard list and
world list I would like to organize. Any ideas?
