Accessing new tabs in javascript

Having done some investigation I cannot find a way to create a new tab from javascript within a web page - i.e. the tab equivalent of window.open. Looking at the js code in the chrome I belive I require access to the chrome "content" element in order to add the tab. Have I missed something?

I used Control Panel's Add/Remove program to uninstall N6.2 but all the Mozilla folders still exist. Can I erase them manually to have a clean system for a virgin re-install of N6.2? What registry files need to be removed too? Thanks, A
