Over the weeks as I've discussed the coming budget, I've mention a number of
factors to be considered. I wonder if that has ever happened. As I've said,
I've worked in city government, I've seen the level of productivity, and I
strongly suspect it can be increased. To me, layoffs of key personn
I agree with Vicky Heller that it would be good to have (at least some) government functions - those that interface with the general public - start and end their days later, to be more accessible to the public, and by the way, alleviate some traffic headaches.

I have never been to a STRIDE meeting, I have educated myself about their position and support them...
There are plenty of us out there who are allies, supporters of STRIDE who are busily organizing around other issues so do not make it to meetings.

No point in going back to the municipal anti-war resolution. The

Hello Minneapolis Issues Folks:
If you look at the numbers of fire fighters that will

about public safety. Minneapolis is already near the

Has an analysis been published on the traffic impact of Best Buy moving into the new facility on 494 and Penn? From my ordinary Joe Citizen perspective, I can not fathom how forward-thinkers let this go in at the d-mark of metro travel. Hopefully, the data will prove me wrong.

While there are a myriad of secondary issues and effects associated

the actual highway traffic problems the redesign of the Lake Street

Can anyone on the list share the reason why, when the highway was originally put in, the 35th and 36th street exit/entrance ramps were installed instead of an exchange at 38th street or another point south, and why Lake street did not get entrance/exit in both directions?

We could simply change the hours that government offices are open.
Instead of 8:00 to 4:30, why not 10:00 to 6:30, or 1:00 to 9:00 p.m.?
Not only would traffic be spread out more evenly, more parking downtown
would be available for commerce, and people with private sector jobs could

David Piehl continues his specialized brand of rhetorical jujitsu on the

Saying that city taxpayers are *only* on the hook for
