Title: FW: MQ software evolution - fill in the gaps?
Does
the story change whenSybase acquired New Era of Networks (I don't think we
can call them NEON anymore after a legal case with the other NEON can we
?)
And
whatever happened to the Copernicus product that New Era of Networks acquired
Title: FW: MQ software evolution - fill in the gaps?
Since no one took up the gauntlet for MQSI or MQ Workflow, I'll have a shot at MQSI...
(I dug into my memory, some old presentations and some redbooks I have around, but this gives a reasonable history)
Beginning of 1998 IBM saw
Title: FW: MQ software evolution - fill in the gaps?
From a
colleague of mine:
Being
ex-NEON and ex-IBM here is my summary:
MQSI
V1.x There is love in the air and talk of a marriage.
MQSI
V2.0Talk of breaking up (marriage jitters), but decided to get
married anyway.
MQSI
V2.1 Trial
After my last append I have had a number of private queries asking things
like wasn't MQ based on TCAM etc. So I went to the horses mouth as it
were and spoke to one of the senior developers on the WMQ z/OS product
who's been working on MQ even longer than I have. This was his
response.
I'm

All,
I thought ez-bridge came before MQSeries, unless it was Rel 1.0 of MQSeries
which I'm certain was Release 2.0.
By the by, TCAM
I'm pretty sure this is the order... I've been working with MQ since
the beta in 1992. I kept the listing focused on the big
platforms...
MQM MVS/ESA V1.1 GA (MVS)- December 31, 1993
ezBridge Transact for MQSeries - March, Sept, Nov, Dec 1993
(different platforms)
MQM/400 V2.3 - Feb/April
Thanks Gary.. That's the definitive list!

Rebecca is in the right ballpark
(or on the right pitch, for those footballers in and around Hursley).
TCAM was introduced
Comprehensive as usual !

Phill,
TCAM was going out of service in MAY of this year, while most enterprise
business switched from TCAM to VTAM early back in the 80's (I believe) it is
still used by quite a number of institution to move
Can someone help fill in the gaps or correct my note below? I'm trying
to establish a timeline and show the names of the various MQ software
names and dates.
MQ: MQM (199? - 199?) - MQSeries (199? - 2001) - Websphere MQ (2001 -
present)
MQSI: MQSI (199? - 2000) - WMQI (2000 - 2002) - WMQIB (2002
Wasn't there a second cousin in there named TCAM??
