Let me see if I understand. If I want to delegete an Action (or project) to
someone called Fred for example, I would go the Action (using say Active
Actions on the left, and in the Properties == General I would enter the
tag ?Fred;
So now if on the left of the screen I click on Filter ==
An AutoHotKey script is one solution I suppose..., but surely it would be
much better if us users were able to set this sort of thing up.
For example I want to make all projects be Complete sub tasks in order so
that I an get to see a list of NEXT Actions for each project, rather than
ALL
Yuk. That's rather messy - and it doesnt toggle back to where you came from.
I mean if I'm editing properties (tags) I'd need to hit Control/Up then
Control/Down and to get back I'd need to hit Alt/2.
But I guess it will have to do. Good enough I guess.
Thanks

Would this do what you want?
Maybe it will do - I'll need to think about that.
While I do so, what I will say is that as a general comment this is all
quite fiddly to set up!
I *think* I would prefer to have Area of Focus as its own field with a big
button near the top somewhere allowing me
but I do believe that we are not discussing MLO anymore.
No but we are discussing a significant part of the (newbie) MLO user
experience(!)
My firm suggestion is to move the forum away from Google Groups in favour
of better/more easily customisable (etc) software.

Gotcha - thanks
I take it you mean List view display mode, yes?
In my defence, I did have a quick look but couldnt find it.
My general suggestion would be to find a way to make the settings more
obvious.
e.g. To group them by category.
And for this particular setting why not just make all three
Re dependencies - yes, I hear your. But setting up dependencies explicitly
sounds sensible for larger projects (unless you do the entire planning
elsewhere using dedicated PM software) however I IMHO, it is *way* too
painful for small/medium sized projects.
e.g. Suppose I have a Project with
PS. Re Point 8... Is there any hotkey way to give focus to the Importance
and/or Urgency sliders on a task?
This is an IMPORTANT requirement for me... !

Brilliant - thanks everyone. :)
Either way in GTD theory it's extremely important to clear out your In

Suggestion: Control/M doesn't seem to be on they Keyboard Shortcuts page.

If true please add it.

Hi
I have a question about Next Actions.
Background:
In alignment with GTD theory, and to prevent overwhelm, I generally like
seeing only ONE Next Action (i.e. not the whole list of actions) per
Project.
For this reason I want essentially all my Projects to have Complete the
subtasks in
Dwight - I have been pondering your suggestion:
In MLO, contexts can include other contexts. So you could have a contexts
called “#calls” “#projects” “#financials” and “#compliance”
and then create a context “@work” that included the other four.
Call me unimaginative, but pretty much all
Those screencasts seem to have disappeared. :(
Are they still visible anywhere?

If you haven't already, have a look at the introductory video on the

I agree with Dwight that one way of achieving this would be to use

Obviously because I am new... that means in part I have no idea what I am
talking about. But partly it makes me a real expert in the NEW user

The thing is I develop/managed websites for a living and I too would regard

Hello
Can anyone tell me whether it is technically possible on Google Groups
(assuming we must stay using it) to have our posts be visible immediately?
And if so is it technically possible that we can EDIT our forum

It was my mistake to call add task a widget, its actually a shortcut. But you
find it in the widgets section of the task drawer. Unfortunately it is named
shortcut MLO so if you are looking at an alphabetical listing you have to
look under s.

Any item that has uncompleted subtasks is considered inactive, so you won't see
a project's title in the active actions list until you have completed all of
its tasks. So, to see the project I'd recommend switching to the outline. My
favorite quick way to get there would be to double-click on
Hi, John. It's my opinion that you are using next actions together with
subtasks in order where you should be using next actions only.
Next actions is implemented as: from each project or folder, show only the
first active subtask. First is determined by position within the outline. If

Yikes, er yes, you may well be correct!
BUT
I dont like the Next Actions by Project for several reasons (see below).
Meanwhile is it possible to set up Next Actions
To get clear:
In MLO, it appears that the sort order of Next Actions by Project does
use the Urgency Importance of the Project itself, even though it isn't
even showing those fields(!). In fact would argue that the fact that there
it fails to show the importance urgency fields of the Project
Hi, John. Question: Do you have a copy of the User Manual? If not, I would
recommend that you get a copy and look through it. If you are having trouble
finding it, try Googling “MyLifeOrganized User Manual” - Most if not all of the
issues that you report as annoying or as deeply annoying would
