simply put a pair of lines like these pointing out to the correct
location of your mysql.sock:
socket = /opt/mysql-4.0.18/mysql.sock
You'll need a line in your client and in your mysqld section of your
my.cnf (mysql config file)

server RPM included in the distribution.
