will be loaded on boot. The process appears not to need any modprobe.conf
entry, but it does need to be told which driver to use so you can get ntsc
(the cx8800 driver) or atsc/qam (the cx88-dvb driver)

The remote sends a code, say "1234fedc" to the hardware. Lircd uses the
lirc.conf file to match that to 'ChannelUP'. 'ChannelUp' gets parsed by
lircrc and translated variously depending on the program which you are
running (xine, mplay
d of appearing as
/dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0) as does not push your pvr250 card from /dev/video0
to /dev/video1.
In Fedora 4, I do not need to have an entry in modprobe.conf for the
cx88-dvb module. I presume because the module is listed in modules.pcimap
and is loaded when the hardware is recognized.

There has probably been even further code integration in ivtv .5.

Having dual processors, even if the max CPU speed is only 1Ghz will really
speed up commercial detection etc.
Interesting that it only takes a max of 1Gig of memory

versions (2.6.11+ at least). Check the .config file ( in /usr/src/linux??
in gentoo??) to see whether the module was included or not.
If not, you will need to get it and install it.

nfortunate side effect of apparently also deleting all of the
settings. I had attempted the replacement route as a surrogate for just
deleting mythconverg and starting again.
And I bought O'Reilly: Mysql in a Nutshell yesterday afternoon...
