Look at the OS issue this way. Start out by trying knopixMyth and if it
doesnt play give the system config howto maintained by Jarod a try and then
back to your existing distro. You will gain a lot of good
about that. But you'll need that alias thing once you get your other
problems figured out.

This may be a work-around for your problem. Install synaptic on your system
and then you can visually see what modules are available for your system and
you can then install the kernel modules for the latest in the system.

I want to automatically run mythtranscode when a recording
completes, and then remove the original nuv file. I
understand that mythtv can to this but google won't tell me how.

My first install was this week. Bought the xbox on Monday.
Running Myth
by Wednesday. Including all downloads,installs and time to make a usb
cable adapter for the xbox. Just slightly harder then a Standard
install. One note, Gentoox Home version had almost all of the
requirements
denied - I'm running my

component adaptor you will get a hdtv frontend for about $200-$250 depending
